Forget grumpy wake-ups for sunrise yoga and forced group hikes – the newest wellness trend is doing absolutely nothing. It’s called hushpitality. And unlike most itineraries promising enlightenment, this one doesn’t come with an ice bath. Just quiet, and permission to actually stop.
The term has been building overseas as burnout, particularly among women, stops being a buzzword and starts being treated like the health issue it is. You don’t need a flight to Europe to find it though. It’s already sitting quietly on Wolithiga Country, in Victoria’s Campaspe region, just outside Echuca.
Its specific GPS coordinates? Wisps of Wool Retreat, founded by Lynn Mason after her own bout of midlife exhaustion and a frustrating search for a wellness escape that wasn’t just one packed schedule swapped for another. So she built something else entirely. Evening Light Immersion takes three women at a time for four unhurried days. No itinerary, no pressure to socialise, no expectation that relaxation is something you need to achieve. You arrive, and you’re simply left alone to be there.

The Global Wellness Institute’s 2026 trend report backs up the shift, naming slower, lower-stimulation travel – built around actual nervous system recovery rather than bucket lists – as one of the defining movements of the year.
There’s a regional story underneath this one too. And it’s worth sitting with if Victoria’s Campaspe region is anywhere near your radar. This isn’t a retreat that’s simply borrowed the landscape as scenery. Every part of the experience comes from the area itself: meals from local caterers, massage therapists, breathwork facilitators and sound healers all based on Country nearby. It’s a wellness experience propped up entirely by women running small businesses throughout the region.
Campaspe has long been known for river systems, wineries and houseboats. Add a retreat that asks nothing of you at all, and there’s a new reason to make the trip. Especially if you’ve spent the past few months running on empty.
Wisps of Wool Retreat is located on Wolithiga Country in the Campaspe region, near Echuca, Victoria.
